Well, when we set up the blog shortly after a year ago, we did not realize it was going to be quite such a success. We would like every Fairhaven student to feel urged to participate, and that is not easy when fbcfreshmen.wordpress.com is the name! So, the new URL is <http://fbcstudentblog.wordpress.com/>
Please update this in your bookmarks, head or whatever you have to remember how to get here! The old blog’s contents will be deleted over the course of the next few weeks. All the old content is on the new blog, so from here on out, that is what we will use! Send us something if you would like to contribute. <fbcstudentblog@gmail.com>

Well, how do you like the title? It sure got me! Don’t worry, you don’t have to throw away your computer, but please continue to read.
The school year has started and things are finally set in motion, which means we can now devote a slight bit of attention to the Fairhaven Student Blog.
1: The Student Blog will be moving shortly to another URL so we can have the blog be for ALL FBC students, not just the freshmen! It is: <http://fbcstudentblog.wordpress.com/>
2: Vote on your favorite photo entry from our summer photo contest. Go here to see the entries and vote.
3: If you would like to submit ANYTHING to the blog, please email it to <fbcstudentblog@gmail.com> We like to hear of recent blessings, as well as prayer requests and an occasional funny story.
Thanks and have a great school year!

Here are a few guidelines:
Any incoming, present, or recent post-Fairhaven student (who cares…anyone), may submit two photographs. One shall have as its subject an object in a garden; preferably a flower, but not limited to such. The subject of the second will consist of some patriotic event, person, symbol, or any such thing; the only qualification being that it distinctly conjures the patriotic sentiment. Judgment will be provided by our blog’s readers. The judges (all persons qualify) will not be cognizant of which picture was taken by whom. Duplicate votes will not be accepted; we have attended to that. The images will be placed on an external website after being e-mailed by you, our participants, to fbcstudentblog@gmail.com. Votes will be tallied at the end of the month. The contest is taking place in August. Please send your pictures promptly. Most importantly, be creative!
As this is an experiment in the world of contributors and contests and we wish to be awed by a plurality of fantastic images and also we are possessed of a desire for others to take part, IF ANY OTHERS WISH TO PARTICIPATE, A SEPARATE CATEGORY WILL BE CREATED FOR THEM.
In review and exposition:
1) GET YOUR PHOTOS IN BY AUGUST 15TH SO JUDGING CAN START.
2) If you have more than two photos, go ahead and submit more just for fun…you might even have a better chance at winning! But being overzealous know this: our editors are ruthless in their efforts for perfection; only your three best will be chosen. Hereby overzealousness is effectively checked and all have reason to make selections that are wise.
Submitting your images:
Email your photos to fbcstudentblog@gmail.com. MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE: 1) your name, 2) email address 3) name of photo(s), and 4) a short description of each photo.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to e-mail us.
When the pictures come in, they will be posted here.

Summer is just about here! In less than a week, Graduation will be over, and people will be heading home. SO…here’s where we need your help. Tell all your friends about the blog, and make sure you visit it often.
We have been talking for some time about what is going to happen during the summer with the blog. Well, here’s a sneak peak…shhhhh, don’t tell anyone!
Its not really a secret since it is at the top of our blog, but, in case you haven’t noticed, our name has changed!! This was done to reflect the attitude and mission we, as Bible College students, and future servants in the ministry are trying to portray. Hopefully that name, and the verse, will be a challenge to us all to make a difference in the world around us.
We are planning on having an essay contest having to do with your favorite ministry leader during the month of June. this can be any ministry leader you have worked with or served under either at home or here at Fairhaven. We are looking for that one leader who truly cares about his/her students and helpers. One who is “…Making a difference.” in the lives of those he works with and ministers too. The essays can be as long as one page but no shorter than a quarter of a page.
We are planning on having a photography contest. The description is as follows: Any incoming, present, or post-Fairhaven student (recently), can submit two photos. One shall have a subject matter of an object in a garden, preferably a flower, but not limited to such. The second will be of the subject matter including a patriotic symbol, person, or event. Judging will be provided by the readers of the blog by way of poll. The judges (anyone) will not know whose picture any of them are. Also, duplicate votes will not be accepted (don’t worry, we’ve got that taken care of!) The pictures will be placed on an external website after they are emailed to fbcstudentblog@gmail.com(this is for all events or even if you just have a question, comment, or hint for us!!), and votes will be tallied at the end of the month. The Photography contest will take place in August. Please get your pictures in quickly, and BE CREATIVE! A date will be set to have the pictures in by-sometime in Early August.
If you have something to contribute, but you do not know if you qualify, send an email to us to find out.
The third item of consideration for the summer will remain a mystery, just note that it will be “special”, and that it will happen in July.

Our days melt into weeks, months, and eventually span into years and yet it is what we choose to do with our days that make all the difference. The annual Preaching Conference at Fairhaven Baptist Church is a time where once again, people from all across the United States and around the world can come together and share what the Lord has done for them in their lives and what He can do through those who are willing to be completely sold out for Him. This year, the people of FBC had the privilege of hearing men of God challenging us to be all that we can be for the advancement of Christ. Almost two weeks have passed since the beginning of Preaching Conference. One must ask himself if the decisions that he made at the altar are still as real to him now as they were when made.
For me, the message that was most applicable was “He’s Everything He Claims to Be…and More” by Pastor Don Green. It can be so easy to get so wrapped up in anything that we are doing involving ministry and completely forget that the ministry is not ours, but the Lord’s. If only you do what you are supposed to, the Lord is going to work in and through you and then His work is going to be done exactly as it was intended to be. We cannot take credit for anything that is accomplished in our lives. An overwhelming thought is just how much we miss out on the Lord working in our lives because we want our will, refusing to let go and let God. Give God a chance to work in your life! In my life personally, I like to make sure that I have everything under control. If things are not lining up the way that I believe they should, it takes only a matter of time before I start to worry and begin trying to fix it by myself. By listening to Pastor Green’s message and seeing reminders in Scripture, I was once more reminded that it is not my life to claim as my own, but rather the Lord’s. It is much easier to be still, knowing that my Savior has everything under control because He is all that He claims to be…and more!
Please take a moment to share with the rest of us what the Lord did in your heart and life over Preaching Conference!
Splendiferously….
Kris

Submitted by Robert Houser:
Keep in mind II Chronicles 7:14:
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
I have an extreme burden for America. I fear America is headed straight toward destruction by God’s wrath and judgment if she does not turn back to God. The need for revival is at its greatest level than ever before, and if we as God’s people do not do something about it, America could easily fall like Sodom and Gomorrah did. My challenge to everybody is to pray earnestly for America, pray that she will turn back to God. Also, I challenge you to take a firm stand for what is right and sound the alarm that America is doomed if she does not turn back to God. WE could be America’s only hope. Please, will you stand with me? Will you pray along with me for America’s greatest need, revival? May the Lord bless you in this effort.
